Proposals five to seven days old with no reply

Proposal follow-up — week one

Send 5-7 days after a proposal goes out and the deal has gone radio-silent. The frame is "I'm assuming silence means a real reason, not avoidance" — which most buyers actually appreciate. Never ask "did you have a chance to review the proposal?" That puts them in defence mode. Ask about the blocker, not the proposal.

Subject: {{company}} proposal — what's in the way?

Hi {{first_name}},

Quick check-in. The proposal went out last {{day_of_week_sent}} and I've not heard back, which usually means one of three things:

  1. The timing slipped because of {{likely_internal_priority}} — totally fair.
  2. There's a number, term, or scope item that doesn't quite fit and you're working out how to push back.
  3. You've gone with someone else and are dreading telling me.

All three are normal. Number three is the only one I'd genuinely appreciate hearing about today so I can stop chasing — no offence taken.

If it's option two, send me the redlines or a one-line note about which bit is sticky. I can almost always work with it.

PS — the proposal expires {{expiry_date}}. Happy to extend if you need more time, just let me know.
